If you are on v21 (FileMaker 2024) or v22 (FileMaker 2025)
You can use the steps below for the in-app updater. However, since an updater can only upgrade one major version at a time, you will need to follow the steps twice.
Because FileMaker 2025 is version 22, you will need to use Help > Check for Updates to jump from v21 to v22.
Once on the latest version of v22, you will use Help > Check for Updates a second time to move to v26 (FileMaker 2026).
- In the top FileMaker menu, go to Help > Check for Updates
- Review the update message, then click Download Update
- DO NOT SELECT the small checkbox beside, "Automatically download and install updates in the future." (All updates should be coordinated with us, to ensure the server is compatible with the update)
- Enter your computer password when prompted
- This is not your FileMaker password - it's the general password for your computer overall
- Close FileMaker, then click Install and Relaunch
- FileMaker will finish the update, then should reopen the new version of FileMaker for you
- If you are not now on v26, you'll need to run the installer again
- Go to Help > Check for Updates and follow the prompts
